Thank you for your interest in being a volunteer. Volunteers play an important role in helping the conference run smoothly. Volunteer energy and time will play an important role in helping create an amazing conference for all involved. This is also be a great opportunity to soak up all the amazing knowledge available in the sessions and work with museum professionals from across the state.

In appreciation of their time, volunteers will be able to attend conference sessions in exchange for their service. Volunteers must fill time slots equal to a minimum of four hours and will be permitted to attend an equal amount of sessions and workshops. If volunteers would like to attend any of the events (outside of their volunteer assignments) they must purchase a ticket. Volunteers are asked to sign up for a minimum of three shifts. Every effort is made to accommodate the shift requests of each volunteer; however, the final schedule is at the discretion of conference staff. .

Qualifications: Good customer service skills, self-motivated, able to think quickly, local knowledge is helpful (even if you are not a local you can study the local guide available at the registration desk)

Responsibilities: Welcome and check in conference attendees. Explain and distribute registration packets. Provide information as needed. Keep registration area organized.

Session/Fieldtrip
Qualifications: An interest in museums issues and willingness to attend to the needs of the session over the desire to passively listen to the speakers

Responsibilities: Act as a liaison between conference staff and the session moderator for any concerns. Monitor session rooms by ensuring session signs have been changed, speakers have water glasses and water, check badges as attendees arrive, hand out session material (as needed), and recording number of session attendees.

Event
Qualifications: Good customer service skills, self-motivated, able to think quickly, knowledgeable about institution or destination (for evening events and session excursions)

Responsibilities: Collect tickets or check names off event list and answer attendees questions. Volunteers are only required to stay at their assigned post until the majority of the participants have arrived. For the remainder of the shift they should be available to be called on as necessary.
